Today, we are providing a brand spotlight on Marriage’s, which is running an exciting competition for the South East Bloggers Club event on Thursday 22 March at Layer Marney Tower.

Marriage’s is running a social media contest which all bloggers are welcome to enter. Simply head to one of our social media pages (Instagram: @southeastbloggers, Twitter: @SEBloggersClub Facebook: SouthEastBloggersClub) and find the post about the competition – “What is your favourite bread to bake and why?”. By answering this simple question, you could be in with the chance of winning the baking package of your dreams – A Bread Ahead Cookbook, a sourdough basket, scraper and, of course, Marriage’s flour. So, what are you waiting for?

So here is a little more information about our friends over at Marriage’s.

Marriage’s is a fifth and sixth generation run family flour millers in Chelmsford, Essex. The company has been trading since 1824 and was set up by twin brothers William and Henry Marriage back in the days of wind and water power.

Marriage’s mill produces a wide range of organic, speciality and ancient grain flours for making bread, cakes, pastry and pizza at home. Its stoneground flour is still made in the traditional way using mill stones that are over 100 years old for a distinctive nutty taste and texture. The company selects the best quality wheat, from farmers within 25–30 miles of Chelmer Mills. Many are farming families who have supplied Marriage’s for generations. The business also uses wheat from farms just a few miles away, owned by the Marriage family and its impressive home baking flours have won 42 Great Taste Awards.

Marriage’s also supply independent artisan bakeries across East Anglia and beyond. Home bakers can find Marriage’s flour locally at the East of England Co-op, health food stores and farm shops, as well as online at Ocado, Abel & Cole and its own web shop at

Marriage’s signed up to work with the South East Bloggers Club to build awareness of its brand with foodie consumers and give bloggers the chance to try its flours.

Hannah Marriage, Director at Marriage’s, comments: “We hope that by working with bloggers it will help to grow our brand presence online with a creative, multi-media approach. It is really important nowadays to have a website as well as an active social media presence to stay in touch with your customer base. It also gives companies staying power, as blogs can be discovered over and over again. We would like to work with bloggers who enjoy baking, as Essex food producers who source much of the wheat we use from local farmers, we were interested in connecting with food and lifestyle bloggers in the region, to share our brand story.”
